Ward 3 needs you on the City Council

Holiday Island has three wards, each represented by two elected City Council members serving two-year terms. In the 2024 election, only one candidate ran from Ward 3. A volunteer stepped in for 2025 but couldn't commit to a second year, so the City Council has been one member short all of 2026 in Ward 3 and has had only half its voice on decisions that affect our neighborhoods.

Now the 2026 election is approaching for the City Council that will serve in 2027 and 2028, and once again only one candidate is running from Ward 3.

Lincoln described a government 'by the people,' and that part only works if people step up and are willing to serve. The good news is that no special skills or education are required. You need to be a U.S. citizen, a registered voter, and a permanent resident of Ward 3, which covers the east side of town, including the Bluffs and Indian Hills. A Ward Map is available here. The City Council meets once a month, with an occasional workshop, so the time commitment is modest unless you choose to get more involved.
